Shaky Knees Music Festival
Founded in 2013 to bring an annual indie music festival to Atlanta, GA. The festival is happening May 5-7th, 2023. Shaky Knees is focused on the music and not other attractions that accompany some of the big USA fests. It’s gaining speed and is now a three-day festival with attendance growing each year. Featuring artists, such as Lumineers and Greta Van Fleet this year! Since it’s in metro Atlanta, it’s easy to travel to, but there is no festival camping.
Beale Street Music Festival
Head to Memphis, TN the weekend of May 5-7th for Beale Street. This festival has been going on since 1977. Beale Street continues to attract fans from all over and a full list of eclectic artists. It draws a crowd of about 175,000 over three-days. It takes place on the banks of the Mississippi River & it’s history traces back to the 1800s, when African-American musicians throughout the South would come to Beale Street and perform. No camping at this festival, but plenty of good music and other touristy things to do around Memphis for a fun weekend.
Joshua Tree Festival
Merging its funky desert style and focusing on up-and-coming artists, this three-day, family-friendly festival is a global music experience. Joshua Tree Fest is May 18-21, 2023 in Joshua Tree, CA. This desert fest founded in 2003 melds music, art, kid activities, yoga classes, and more to inspire and intrigue attendees. So, for an intimate and relaxed positive festival vibe, head to Joshua Tree and camp on the outskirts of Joshua Tree National Park.
Electric Daisy Carnival
Las Vegas, NV is home to the biggest celebration for electronic dance music lovers, EDC – Electric Daisy Carnival. This mega three-day fest draws about 400,000 ravers that head to Las Vegas for the festival, which features many top EDM DJs. EDCLV will take place May 19 – 21st this year. The festival previously has been held in June, but since switching to May in 2018, it has helped bring the brutal temperatures down a bit. The flagship festival is Vegas style with over the top EDC entertainment. Also, the festival offers an on-site camping option!
Hangout Music Festival
On the beach of Gulf Shores, AL. This beach theme good vibe three-day festival May 19-21st, 2023 features many genres of music, including pop, indie, hip hop, and EDM. Hangout Fest began in 2009 and continues to sell out to about 40,000 attendees. No camping at this festival but plenty of water view condos to rent together with friends to make this a great place to meet up for the weekend!
Boston Calling Music Festival
This festival made its debut 2013, Boston Calling previously took place twice a year, but has transitioned now to one festival per year. The location is Allston, MA the weekend of May 26-28, 2023. This festival has grown to about 40,000 attendees. They are featuring the artists; Foo Fighters, Paramore, and the Lumineers this year! Always a great city to visit with lots to do! Boston Calling does not offer festival camping.
BottleRock Napa Valley
BottleRock is a Rock and Indie music festival located in Napa Valley, CA. It is a 3 day festival with the best in live music, wine, food and brew. The festival brings in over 120,000 atendees over the three day fest and some amazing artists in this years lineup! The festival is May 26-28th this year and is featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers, Post Malone, and Lizzo. This festival also does have camping available!
Sunset Music Festival
Now in its 12th year another Florida festival that takes place May 27-28, 2023 over Memorial Day weekend in Tampa, FL returns. A two-day festival in celebration of the best DJs in EDM (electronic dance music). With a superior audio set up and premier visuals. Tampa is a great place for a long weekend, hit the fest and the beach too. It’s low season in Florida which means a cheaper time to travel to Tampa!
Welcome to Rockville
Rockville is America’s largest Rock festival and it’s taking place May 18-21st in Daytona Beach, FL. It is now a 4 dayy fest and in a great spot for a weekend away. Daytona will be packed with great music, food, entertainment, and more. The festival brings in over 150,000 guests and is one of the largest rock music festivals featuring artists such as Slipknot this year!
WonderWorks Music & Arts Festival
Brand new Wonderworks Music Festival. It is a festival that features contemporary music, featuring Hozier and Jason Mraz this year! WonderWorks takes place outside of Pittsburgh, PA over May 27-28th. A debut festival at a pretty and chill venue. Pittsburgh is a fun place to go during the warmer weather months, so you can hit the fest and other many fun things to do in the Burgh’ over a long weekend.
